Jokowi Asks China to Increase Indonesia's Palm Oil Import

TEMPO.CO, Bogor - President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo during a meeting with Xi Jinping's foreign relations adviser Song Tao hoped that China would increase its crude palm oil (CPO) import from Indonesia.
“The President hopes for a hike in China’s import of CPO and other commodities such as fruits and aquatic,” said Foreign Affairs Deputy Minister AM Fachir after the meeting in Bogor Presidential Palace, West Java, Friday, September 20.
Fachir said the two countries are committed to enhancing bilateral relationship and cooperation, especially in trade sector in a bid to prevent adverse impact from the global economy.
In the investment sector, Fachir added, President Joko Widodo expected a partnership opportunities with China in export-oriented production, either to Africa, the Middle East, until the United States of America.
Meanwhile, in the infrastructure investment, Widodo also expected sustainable collaboration through the belt and road initiative (BRI), which is centered in the Indonesian maritime.
“The President specifically hopes the ties in the trade sector will lessen the impact of the country’s deficit with China,” Fachri concluded.
